The narrow Saudi desert linking An Nafud with the Rub' al Khali is the Ad-Dahna Desert.

Ad-Dahna forms a long, bow-shaped corridor of sand across central Saudi Arabia. It connects the northern An Nafud with the immense Rub' al Khali, or Empty Quarter, in the south. This makes it the crucial sandy link among Arabia's three best-known great deserts.

The desert stretches for more than 1,000 kilometres in some descriptions, while its width generally remains far smaller, reaching roughly 80 kilometres. Its dunes are often reddish because iron oxides stain the sand. The corridor also borders the Tuwaiq Mountains and separates parts of Najd from eastern Arabia.

A common mix-up is to choose the Rub' al Khali because it is the largest desert in the region, or An Nafud because it is the northern endpoint. Neither is the connector: Ad-Dahna is the intermediate desert corridor. Its route has long mattered to travel, pastoralism and roads linking inland Saudi settlements.
