Ozzy Osbourne recorded the 1980 solo album Blizzard of Ozz after leaving Black Sabbath.
Released on September 20, 1980, Blizzard of Ozz was Osbourne's debut solo studio album. It followed his dismissal from Black Sabbath in 1979 and launched a highly successful solo career. The album contains “Crazy Train,” “Mr. Crowley,” and “Goodbye to Romance.”
Guitarist Randy Rhoads was a central musical presence on the record, alongside bassist Bob Daisley and drummer Lee Kerslake. Ozzy's solo band combined prominent guitar work with a theatrical vocal persona, creating a sound distinct from but connected to his Black Sabbath years.
Some listeners confuse the album with Diary of a Madman, Osbourne's second solo studio album, released in 1981. Blizzard of Ozz is also sometimes described as a band name rather than an album title, but the credited artist on the original release was Ozzy Osbourne.
