Which mountain range is commonly used as part of the boundary between Europe and Asia?

The story behind the answer

The Ural Mountains are commonly used as part of the boundary between Europe and Asia.

The range runs roughly north–south through western Russia, extending from the Arctic coast toward the Ural River and northwestern Kazakhstan. In the conventional geographic model, the Urals separate European Russia to the west from Siberia and the rest of northern Asia to the east.

This is a convention rather than a sharp political or cultural dividing line. Europe and Asia form one continuous landmass, so geographers have proposed several boundary schemes involving the Ural Mountains, the Ural River, the Caspian Sea and the Caucasus. The exact southern continuation is especially debated, but the Ural range remains the most familiar part of the Europe–Asia boundary.

The Urals are also important for natural resources. They contain deposits of iron ore, coal, copper, gold and gemstones, and helped make the surrounding region a major center of Russian metallurgy. Their highest summit is Mount Narodnaya, rising to about 1,895 meters.
