Which model was the 'Bettina' blouse from Givenchy's first collection named after?

The story behind the answer

The Bettina blouse was named after the model Bettina Graziani.

Graziani, born Simone Micheline Bodin, was one of the most prominent French fashion models of the 1940s and 1950s. She became known professionally as Bettina after designer Jacques Fath gave her the name early in her career. By the time Hubert de Givenchy opened his own house in 1952, she was already an influential model and fashion personality.

Graziani worked closely with Givenchy as both a model and a public-relations figure. She helped bring attention to his debut collection, and he named one of its most recognizable designs—the white, puff-sleeved Bettina blouse—in her honour. The blouse became a defining image of the young fashion house and was later immortalized in a René Gruau illustration.

Audrey Hepburn is a common mix-up because her long collaboration with Givenchy made her the label’s most famous muse. Hepburn first met Givenchy during the filming of Sabrina in 1953, after the blouse had already been created and named for Graziani.
