Answer

Which MLB franchise began as the Seattle Pilots before moving in 1970? The answer is the Milwaukee Brewers.
The Seattle Pilots were an American League expansion team that played only one season, in 1969. Financial problems, low attendance and difficult stadium conditions quickly put the franchise in jeopardy. After the season, the team was purchased by a Milwaukee-based ownership group led by Bud Selig and moved to Wisconsin.
The relocation became official on April 1, 1970, just days before the new season began. The club was renamed the Milwaukee Brewers, reviving a baseball identity that Milwaukee had used before the Braves arrived in 1953. The Brewers played in the American League West and opened their first Milwaukee season at County Stadium.
The rushed move explains why early Brewers uniforms and equipment retained much of the Pilots' nautical design. The franchise struggled at first, going 65–97 in 1970, but later built a strong identity in Milwaukee. In 1998, the Brewers moved from the American League to the National League, and in 2013 they joined the National League Central.
