Which mineral is avocado particularly rich in compared to other fruits?

The story behind the answer

Avocado is particularly rich in potassium compared with many other fruits.

A 100-gram serving supplies a meaningful amount of potassium, alongside vitamin K, vitamin E, vitamin C, and several B vitamins. Potassium is an electrolyte involved in nerve signals, muscle contraction, and fluid balance.

Avocado’s nutritional profile is unusual for fruit because much of its energy comes from fat, especially monounsaturated oleic acid. That makes it different from fruits such as apples or oranges, which are generally higher in water and carbohydrates and much lower in fat.

A common mix-up is confusing potassium with magnesium. Avocado contains both, but potassium is the mineral most strongly associated with its notable mineral content. The fruit is also botanically a berry, despite its savory culinary uses and single large seed.
