Which Microsoft web browser was first released with Plus! for Windows 95?

The story behind the answer

Which Microsoft web browser was first released with Plus! for Windows 95? Internet Explorer was the browser first released with Microsoft Plus! for Windows 95.

Internet Explorer 1.0 debuted on August 24, 1995, the same day Windows 95 launched. It was included in the Internet Jumpstart Kit, one of the utilities bundled in the separately sold Plus! enhancement package. Microsoft had licensed technology from Spyglass Mosaic while developing the browser.

The early release was not yet the default browser in every copy of Windows 95. Later Windows 95 updates and OEM editions bundled newer Internet Explorer versions, helping Microsoft expand its browser presence. Internet Explorer 2 followed in late 1995 with features such as cookies and SSL support.

A common mix-up is choosing Edge, Microsoft's later replacement. Edge launched in 2015, while Internet Explorer was Microsoft's original Windows web browser. Netscape Navigator was a major contemporary rival, not Microsoft's product.
