Which Mexico City school did Frida Kahlo enter in 1922?
Answer
National Preparatory School
Answer
National Preparatory School
Frida Kahlo entered Mexico’s National Preparatory School in 1922.
The school, officially known as the Escuela Nacional Preparatoria, was one of Mexico’s leading educational institutions. Kahlo was among the first female students admitted there, and she initially intended to study medicine rather than pursue an art career.
While at the school, she encountered politically active students and became interested in Mexican public life. She also met several future Mexican intellectuals and artists, including Alejandro Gómez Arias, who later became her boyfriend.
Kahlo’s education was interrupted by the bus accident she suffered in 1925. During her long recovery, she began painting seriously. This period transformed her earlier medical ambitions into the artistic career for which she became internationally known.
