Which Mexican city is associated with the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a pilgrimage site for some quinceañeras?

The story behind the answer

Mexico City is associated with the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a pilgrimage site for some quinceañeras.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe stands in the northern part of Mexico City, near Tepeyac Hill. Some families bring a quinceañera there for prayer or a religious celebration connected with her fifteenth birthday. The site is especially important in Mexican Catholic devotion.

The modern basilica was completed in 1976 and replaced the older basilica, which had structural problems. It houses the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe, one of the most important religious images in Mexico. Large numbers of pilgrims visit the complex throughout the year.

A quinceañera does not have to be celebrated at this basilica, and many families use a local parish or choose a nonreligious ceremony. Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Puebla are also major Mexican cities, but they are not the location of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe at Tepeyac.
