Which Metallica song won Best Metal Video at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards?
Answer
Enter Sandman
“Enter Sandman” won Best Metal Video at the 1992 MTV Video Music Awards.
The award recognized the song’s highly visible music video, which combined unsettling dream imagery with performance footage and helped make Metallica familiar to a much larger television audience. The video was directed by Wayne Isham.
“Enter Sandman” was the lead single from The Black Album and was released on July 29, 1991, before the full album arrived. It became one of Metallica’s signature songs and reached number 16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.
The song also received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song, but that is a separate honor from its MTV victory. The MTV award specifically recognized the video in the metal category at the 1992 ceremony.
