Monsters of Rock was the metal festival first held in England in 1980.

The inaugural festival took place at Donington Park in Leicestershire on 16 August 1980. Its lineup included Rainbow, Judas Priest, Scorpions, April Wine, Saxon, and Touch, making it an important early gathering for major hard rock and heavy metal acts.

Donington Park became closely associated with the event. Monsters of Rock returned there for many years and helped establish the venue as one of Britain's best-known locations for large rock festivals.

The festival is sometimes mixed up with Download Festival, which also used Donington Park but began in 2003. Wacken Open Air, another major metal festival, began in Germany in 1990 rather than England in 1980.
