Gojira released the 2005 album From Mars to Sirius.
From Mars to Sirius is the third studio album by French metal band Gojira. It combines progressive metal, death-metal intensity, groove-oriented riffs, and environmental themes. The album’s concept follows a journey involving humanity, ecological crisis, whales, Mars, and Sirius.
Songs such as “Flying Whales,” “Backbone,” and “Ocean Planet” became especially associated with the band. Gojira’s music often connects extreme-metal technique with concerns about nature, pollution, and humanity’s relationship with the planet.
The title refers to Mars and Sirius, the brightest star in Earth’s night sky. Gojira originally used the name Godzilla, but changed it to Gojira, the Japanese pronunciation of the monster’s name, before releasing the album.
