Fieldy, the stage name of Korn bassist Reginald Arvizu, released the solo rap album Rock’n Roll Gangster. It arrived in 2002 under the project name Fieldy’s Dreams.
The album marked a sharp change from Korn’s signature nu metal sound. Instead of focusing on heavy guitar riffs and shouted vocals, Rock’n Roll Gangster draws on gangsta rap, G-funk, and hardcore hip-hop influences. Fieldy handled production with Bjorn “Polarbear” Soderberg, and the record included guest appearances from artists connected to both rap and Korn.
Fieldy had already been recognized for his distinctive bass style in Korn, whose low, percussive playing helped define the band’s sound. His solo project allowed him to explore rhythm, sampling, and rap-oriented production more directly.
The album was released by Epic Records on January 22, 2002, and reached No. 15 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Albums chart. The title is sometimes written as Rock N Roll Gangster or Rock'n Roll Gangster, but both refer to the same Fieldy’s Dreams release.
