Which medieval Arthurian knight is the son of Lancelot and Elaine in the Lancelot-Grail Cycle?

The story behind the answer

Galahad is the son of Lancelot and Elaine in the Lancelot-Grail Cycle.

Galahad is introduced as an exceptionally pure knight whose arrival transforms Arthur’s court and its expectations for the Grail quest. In the prose romances, his parentage connects him to Lancelot, the greatest knight of the previous generation, while his spiritual character distinguishes him from his father.

The Queste del Saint Graal presents Galahad as the principal Grail achiever. He succeeds where other knights fail because the quest is governed by moral and religious worth rather than martial skill alone. Galahad, Percival, and Bors reach the Grail in the principal prose tradition.

Different Arthurian works vary in their details, and some traditions emphasize Percival more strongly. Galahad’s parentage, however, is a stable feature of the Lancelot-Grail tradition. He should not be confused with Lancelot’s other famous son, Lohengrin, from later German legend.
