Which marine reptile is known for migrating between feeding and nesting grounds across the Pacific?

The story behind the answer

The leatherback sea turtle is known for migrating between feeding and nesting grounds across the Pacific. Some individuals travel thousands of kilometres between tropical nesting beaches and rich feeding areas in temperate waters.

Leatherbacks are the largest living turtles and the only modern sea turtles without a hard bony shell. Instead, their backs are covered by a flexible, leathery skin over a layer of small bones. This design helps them dive deeply and tolerate colder water than most other sea turtles.

Their diet consists mainly of jellyfish and other soft-bodied organisms. Plastic bags can resemble jellyfish, so marine debris is a serious threat. Leatherbacks return to land to lay eggs, while adults spend most of their lives at sea.
