Which manufacturer produced the classic car Jensen Interceptor?

The story behind the answer

Which manufacturer produced the classic car Jensen Interceptor? The answer is Jensen Motors.

Jensen Motors hand-built the Interceptor in West Bromwich, England, from 1966 to 1976. It was a grand tourer with a steel body, front-mounted V8, rear-wheel drive, and seating for four. The car replaced the Jensen CV8 and became the company’s best-known model.

The Interceptor’s original body design came from Carrozzeria Touring of Italy, and early bodies were constructed by Vignale before Jensen brought production in-house. This Italian connection can cause confusion, but neither Touring nor Vignale was the Interceptor’s manufacturer. Jensen Motors engineered, assembled, and sold the production car.

Most Interceptors used Chrysler V8 engines, including 383- and 440-cubic-inch units. The related Jensen FF added Ferguson four-wheel drive and an anti-lock braking system, but it was a distinct model rather than a different manufacturer’s version of the standard Interceptor. About 6,408 examples were built during the main production run.
