Which manufacturer has the most constructor championships in the MotoGP era (2002-2023)?

The story behind the answer

Honda has won the most constructor championships in the MotoGP era from 2002 through 2023. The Japanese manufacturer led the early four-stroke era and accumulated more premier-class constructors’ titles than Yamaha, Ducati or Suzuki during that period.

MotoGP began in 2002, replacing the 500cc class as the championship’s top category. Honda’s RC211V immediately proved competitive, helping the company win the inaugural constructors’ championship and several more during the Valentino Rossi, Nicky Hayden, Casey Stoner and Marc Márquez eras.

Honda’s strongest sustained run came in the 2010s. Márquez won six riders’ titles for Honda between 2013 and 2019, and the manufacturer regularly converted its riders’ victories into constructors’ success. Ducati won the 2023 constructors’ crown, but that did not erase Honda’s larger total across the defined 2002–2023 window.

A common confusion is mixing constructors’ championships with riders’ or teams’ championships. These are separate awards: the constructors’ title credits the manufacturer, while the riders’ title goes to an individual competitor.
