Which maglev line connects Shanghai Pudong International Airport with Longyang Road station?
Answer
Shanghai Maglev Train
Answer
Shanghai Maglev Train
The Shanghai Maglev Train connects Shanghai Pudong International Airport with Longyang Road station.
The line opened to the public in 2004 and uses German Transrapid magnetic-levitation technology. Instead of steel wheels rolling on rails, the train is lifted and propelled by electromagnetic forces along a dedicated guideway.
The route is about 30 kilometres long and reaches a scheduled top speed of 431 km/h during peak service. The journey to Longyang Road takes only a few minutes, where passengers can transfer to Shanghai Metro services for travel into the city.
The Shanghai Maglev is often grouped with bullet trains in general discussions of fast rail, but it is not a conventional high-speed railway. Japan’s Shinkansen, France’s TGV, and China’s CRH trains use wheels and rails; Shanghai’s system uses magnetic levitation instead.
