Which luxury group acquired Christian Dior Couture from Christian Dior SE in 2017?

The story behind the answer

LVMH acquired Christian Dior Couture from Christian Dior SE in 2017.

The transaction formed part of a major 2017 restructuring of the relationship between the Dior fashion business and the LVMH luxury group. LVMH, led by Bernard Arnault, already controlled many luxury brands, while Christian Dior SE had been the listed company associated with the Dior group. The deal brought the couture business directly into LVMH’s fashion and leather-goods division.

The arrangement also clarified an important distinction between two similarly named entities. Christian Dior Couture is the fashion house that makes couture, ready-to-wear and accessories. Christian Dior SE is a holding company. LVMH is the larger luxury group that owns the couture house today.

The answer is not Kering, although Kering owns other major fashion houses such as Gucci and Saint Laurent. Richemont and Prada Group are also large luxury companies, but neither acquired Christian Dior Couture in the 2017 transaction.
