Which Los Angeles studio hosted most of the recording of Metallica's The Black Album?
Answer
One on One Recording Studios
Answer
One on One Recording Studios
Most of Metallica's The Black Album was recorded at One on One Recording Studios in Los Angeles.
The main sessions began in October 1990 and continued through June 1991. One on One, located in North Hollywood, provided the principal setting for the album's demanding production process with Bob Rock.
The band also spent about a week at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, while additional overdubs and mixing took place at A&M Studios in Hollywood. That makes One on One the primary recording location, rather than the only studio connected with the project.
The lengthy sessions reflected Metallica's perfectionism and Rock's insistence on collaborative performances. The band recorded many takes, then selected and edited the strongest performances for the finished tracks.
