London is the city setting of Assassin's Creed Syndicate.
The game takes place in Victorian London in 1868, during the Industrial Revolution. Its districts include Westminster, the Strand, the City of London, Southwark, Lambeth, and Whitechapel. The urban environment reflects factories, railways, crowded streets, and the growing power of industrial businesses.
Jacob and Evie Frye are the game's twin protagonists, and the player can switch between them during much of the campaign. They establish a gang called the Rooks while opposing Templar control over the city. Their adventures involve figures such as Charles Dickens, Karl Marx, and Queen Victoria.
Syndicate is distinct from Unity, which is set in revolutionary Paris, and from the later Valhalla expansions that visit medieval England. The game was released in 2015 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with a Windows release later that year. Its grappling launcher and train-based hideout are among its signature gameplay features.
