Which large Andean lake lies on the border of Peru and Bolivia?

The story behind the answer

Lake Titicaca is the large Andean lake on the border of Peru and Bolivia.

It occupies the northern Altiplano between the two countries, with its western section in Peru's Puno Region and its eastern section in Bolivia's La Paz Department. The lake is famous for its high elevation and is often described as the world's highest navigable lake.

Titicaca consists of two major basins connected by the Strait of Tiquina: the larger Lago Grande, also called Lago Chucuito, and the smaller Wiñaymarka, or Lago Pequeño. Rivers such as the Ramis, Coata, Ilave, Huancané and Suchez feed it, while the Desaguadero River provides an outlet; evaporation is the main water loss.

Lake Junín is another important high-altitude lake in Peru, but it is not on the international border. Lake Poopó lies in Bolivia, and Lake Maracaibo is in Venezuela. Titicaca also has deep Indigenous, archaeological and cultural connections, including the Uros floating-island communities.
