Dubai’s internationally televised New Year’s Eve fireworks display has famously illuminated the Burj Khalifa.
The Burj Khalifa is the world’s tallest building, standing in Downtown Dubai. Its height and distinctive tapering form make it a natural centerpiece for large-scale light, laser, and fireworks productions. Crowds gather around the tower and the nearby Dubai Fountain area to watch the midnight show.
Dubai’s displays have changed over the years, combining fireworks with LED effects, projection, and coordinated music. The event is organized as a major public spectacle and is broadcast widely, helping make the tower one of the most recognizable New Year images worldwide.
The Burj Al Arab is another famous Dubai landmark and is also used in promotional imagery, but it is not the tower identified with the city’s signature Downtown countdown. The Burj Khalifa opened in 2010 and was known as Burj Dubai during construction.
