Which landmark is illuminated during Dubai's famous New Year's Eve display?

The story behind the answer

The landmark illuminated during Dubai's famous New Year's Eve display is Burj Khalifa.

Burj Khalifa is a skyscraper in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and has been the world's tallest completed building since its opening in 2010. Its height is 828 meters (2,717 feet), and its exterior offers a huge surface for coordinated LED imagery, lasers, and fireworks.

Dubai's New Year's Eve celebrations have used the tower as a central visual focus, projecting animated designs and messages across its façade. The display is coordinated with activity around Downtown Dubai, including the Dubai Fountain and large public gatherings. Broadcast coverage has helped make the tower a globally recognizable New Year's landmark.

Burj Khalifa was developed by Emaar Properties and designed by the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. It was officially inaugurated on January 4, 2010. Its New Year's presentations are not the same thing as the building's daily observation experience, which is available at designated upper-floor levels.
