Which jellyfish is famous for having the longest tentacles of any jellyfish?

The story behind the answer

The lion's mane jellyfish is famous for having the longest tentacles of any jellyfish.

Its tentacles hang in clusters beneath the bell and can extend for many metres. The longest reported specimens have been associated with tentacles approaching 36 metres, although measurements vary and exceptional claims are difficult to verify precisely.

This cold-water jellyfish has a bell that may reach around two metres across. It occurs mainly in northern Atlantic and northern Pacific waters, where it drifts with currents and captures plankton, fish larvae and small animals with stinging cells called nematocysts.

The lion's mane jellyfish is not usually considered as dangerous as the most medically significant box jellyfish. Its sting can still cause pain and irritation, and its long tentacles may be hard to see in the water.
