Which Japanese island was the target of the planned Operation Olympic in the 1945 invasion plan?

The story behind the answer

Kyushu was the target of the planned Operation Olympic in the 1945 invasion plan.

Olympic was the first stage of Operation Downfall, the proposed Allied invasion of Japan. It called for landings in southern Kyushu, Japan’s southernmost major home island, beginning on 1 November 1945. The objective was to seize airfields and establish positions from which later operations could be supported.

The second stage, Operation Coronet, was intended to follow on Honshu and attack the Kanto Plain near Tokyo. Olympic and Coronet were designed as linked operations, not alternative names for the same invasion. Olympic focused on Kyushu; Coronet focused on the Tokyo region.

The plan was abandoned after Japan accepted the Allied surrender terms in August 1945. The expected invasion would have involved hundreds of thousands of Allied personnel and a heavily defended Japanese homeland. Because it was canceled, the planned landings on Kyushu never occurred.
