Which Japanese convenience store chain, founded in 1975, has a blue and white logo?

The story behind the answer

Lawson is the Japanese convenience store chain founded in 1975 and recognized by its blue-and-white logo.

Lawson’s visual identity traces back to Lawson’s Dairy in Ohio, whose trademark featured a white milk can against a blue background. That American dairy heritage was carried into Japan when Lawson opened its first Japanese store in Toyonaka, Osaka Prefecture, on June 14, 1975.

The Japanese operation grew through a partnership involving Daiei, a major Japanese retail company. Lawson became one of Japan’s major convenience-store networks, selling prepared meals, rice balls, desserts, drinks and everyday necessities, alongside services such as parcel handling and bill payment.

The logo can be confused with other convenience brands because 7-Eleven and FamilyMart are also major Japanese chains. However, the milk-can emblem and blue-and-white color scheme are especially associated with Lawson.
