Naples is the southern terminus of Italy’s high-speed Milan–Naples railway corridor.
Italy’s north–south high-speed backbone connects Milan with Bologna, Florence, Rome, and Naples. The corridor is a central part of the Italian high-speed network, using dedicated lines and upgraded approaches to reduce journey times between the country’s major cities. Naples is also a major rail gateway for southern Italy and is served by high-speed Frecciarossa trains.
Rome is an important intermediate city, not the southern endpoint of this corridor. Milan is the northern endpoint named in the corridor’s conventional description. Italy also has high-speed routes extending beyond this axis, including services toward Turin and Salerno, so the Milan–Naples label describes a major corridor rather than the entire national network.
