Which Italian automaker produced the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider?
Answer
Alfa Romeo
Answer
Alfa Romeo
Alfa Romeo produced the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider. The Italian automaker built this elegant two-seat roadster from 1955 to 1962 as the open-top counterpart to the Giulietta Sprint.
The project began after Max Hoffman, Alfa Romeo’s American importer, urged the company to create a convertible Giulietta for the growing North American sports-car market. Alfa Romeo commissioned competing designs from Bertone and Pinin Farina; the more restrained Pinin Farina proposal won and entered production.
The Giulietta Spider used a lightweight four-cylinder engine and became one of Alfa Romeo’s defining postwar sports cars. It is often confused with the later Giulia Spider, which replaced it in 1962 with a larger 1.6-liter engine. The famous design also helped establish Pininfarina’s reputation for shaping stylish Italian convertibles.
