Theo Paphitis joined the Dragon's Den panel in series two, replacing Simon Woodroffe.
Paphitis is a British-Cypriot retail entrepreneur who became widely known in the United Kingdom through his involvement with major retail and consumer brands. His business background gave him a strong interest in shop-based businesses, branding, customer demand and the practical realities of running a retail operation.
Simon Woodroffe was part of the original Dragon panel but left after the first series. Paphitis then joined for the second series, becoming one of the programme’s best-known early investors. This change helped shape the panel viewers came to associate with the show’s early years.
The timing matters because several Dragons joined or left across the programme’s long run. Theo Paphitis is therefore not an original-series Dragon, even though he became closely associated with the early British edition.
