Which international journalism organization coordinated the 2021 Pandora Papers investigation?
Answer
International Consortium of Investigative Journalists
Answer
International Consortium of Investigative Journalists
The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists coordinated the 2021 Pandora Papers investigation.
The Pandora Papers were a major investigative journalism project based on a large leak of financial documents from offshore service providers. The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists, commonly known as ICIJ, coordinated reporting by journalists and news organizations in many countries.
The investigation was published in October 2021. Its reports examined offshore companies, trusts, and other structures connected with politicians, business figures, celebrities, and wealthy individuals. Appearing in the documents did not by itself prove that a person had broken the law; offshore arrangements can have both legal and illegal uses.
The name deliberately echoes “Pandora’s box,” suggesting the opening of concealed information with wide consequences. The Pandora Papers were distinct from the Panama Papers, another ICIJ-coordinated investigation released in 2016.
