Which individual has the most followers on Instagram as of 2023?

As of 2023, Cristiano Ronaldo had the most followers on Instagram among individuals. The Portuguese footballer surpassed other major celebrities and athletes, including Lionel Messi, Kylie Jenner, and Kim Kardashian, to become the platform’s most-followed person.

Ronaldo’s enormous following reflects his global football career, including success with Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and the Portugal national team. His Instagram account combines match photographs, training updates, family images, sponsorships, and lifestyle posts, giving it reach well beyond football fans.

A common mix-up is the distinction between the most-followed individual and the most-followed account overall. Instagram’s own official account has historically ranked above every individual, but it is a brand account rather than a person. Follower totals also change constantly, so a question tied to a particular year is more precise than an undated version.
