Which Indian billionaire is the chairman of Reliance Industries?

The story behind the answer

Mukesh Ambani is the Indian billionaire who serves as chairman of Reliance Industries.

He is the elder son of Dhirubhai Ambani, who founded Reliance as a textile business in 1958. Mukesh joined the company in 1981 and helped build its large petrochemicals and refining operations, including the Jamnagar refinery in Gujarat.

After Dhirubhai’s death in 2002, Reliance’s business interests were divided between Mukesh and his younger brother, Anil Ambani. Mukesh retained leadership of Reliance Industries and later expanded into telecommunications through Jio, retail, media, and digital services.

A common mix-up is confusing the company’s founder, Dhirubhai Ambani, with its current chairman, Mukesh Ambani. Gautam Adani heads the Adani Group, while Anand Mahindra and Ratan Tata lead or led different business groups.
