Which ice-cream company introduced the first mass-produced ice-cream bar on a stick in 1922?

The story behind the answer

Good Humor introduced the first mass-produced ice-cream bar on a stick in 1922.

Good Humor began after Harry Burt of Youngstown, Ohio, developed a chocolate-coated ice-cream bar mounted on a wooden stick. The stick made the bar easier to handle, and mobile Good Humor trucks helped distribute it directly to customers. The company became especially recognizable through its white trucks and uniformed vendors.

The product was not the same invention as the chocolate-coated bar later known as the Eskimo Pie. Christian Kent Nelson’s earlier product used a different design and name. Good Humor’s major contribution was turning a stick-mounted ice-cream bar into a large-scale branded business.

Good Humor was part of the development of mobile frozen-dessert vending in the United States. Its early route trucks helped make individually wrapped ice-cream novelties widely available.
