Which House, M.D. character becomes the hospital’s dean of medicine in season 8?

The story behind the answer

Eric Foreman becomes the hospital’s dean of medicine in season 8 of House, M.D. Foreman is a neurologist who began the series as one of House’s original diagnostic fellows.

Over the series, Foreman develops from a talented but inexperienced team member into an independent physician and administrator. His medical judgment often clashes with House’s methods, but his experience working with House also prepares him for leadership. After changes in the hospital’s administration, Foreman assumes the dean position at Princeton-Plainsboro.

Omar Epps portrays Foreman. The character should not be confused with Lisa Cuddy, who is the hospital’s dean of medicine during most of the earlier series, or with James Wilson, who leads oncology. Robert Chase also becomes an important department leader later, but Foreman holds the dean role in the eighth season.
