Which Honda founder was born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1906?
Answer
Soichiro Honda
Answer
Soichiro Honda
The Honda founder born in Shizuoka Prefecture in 1906 was Soichiro Honda.
Honda was born on November 17, 1906, in Kōmyō village near Hamamatsu, in what is now Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. His father repaired bicycles, giving the future engineer an early introduction to tools, machines, and mechanical work. As a teenager, Honda moved to Tokyo and became an apprentice at an automobile garage.
After returning to Japan, he developed manufacturing experience and later established Honda Motor Co. in 1948. The company first became famous for compact motorcycles before expanding into automobiles and international motorsport. Honda’s engineering-first approach became central to the company’s identity.
Takeo Fujisawa is the common mix-up: he was Honda’s crucial business partner and co-founder figure, but he was not the person born in Shizuoka in 1906. Michio Suzuki and Kiichiro Toyoda founded different Japanese vehicle companies, Suzuki and Toyota respectively.
