The 1804 dollar is planned as a 2026 “Best of the Mint” reproduction for America’s 250th anniversary. The program is intended to revisit famous United States coin designs in special anniversary issues rather than place those historic originals back into circulation.
The planned group also includes reproductions inspired by the 1916 Mercury dime, the 1916 Standing Liberty quarter, the 1916 Walking Liberty half dollar, and the 1907 Saint-Gaudens double eagle. These selections span several denominations and showcase designs that collectors associate with classic American coinage.
The name “1804 dollar” is itself a source of confusion. The famous coins were actually struck in later years for diplomatic presentation sets, even though they carry the 1804 date. The anniversary reproduction refers to that recognized numismatic type.
