Which historic building appears on the reverse of the 2026 quarter honoring the U.S. Constitution?
Answer
Independence Hall
Answer
Independence Hall
Independence Hall appears on the reverse of the 2026 quarter honoring the U.S. Constitution.
Independence Hall in Philadelphia is the building where the Constitutional Convention met in 1787. Delegates debated and signed the Constitution there, making the building a direct physical link to the document commemorated by the quarter.
The coin’s obverse features James Madison, who is often called the “Father of the Constitution” because of his major role in preparing for the convention, contributing ideas and recording its proceedings. The reverse therefore combines a leading constitutional figure with the convention’s historic location.
Independence Hall is sometimes confused with Federal Hall in New York City, where George Washington was inaugurated as the first president. Faneuil Hall and Carpenters’ Hall are also important colonial-era buildings, but neither is the constitutional convention site shown on this quarter.
