Which Harley-Davidson motorcycle was the first model to use the company’s Revolution Max engine?

The story behind the answer

The Harley-Davidson Pan America was the first model to use the company’s Revolution Max engine.

The Pan America adventure-touring motorcycle debuted for the 2021 model year with the liquid-cooled Revolution Max 1250 engine. This was a major technical departure from the air-cooled and oil-cooled V-twins associated with many traditional Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The engine was designed as a stressed member of the chassis, helping reduce weight and increase rigidity. Its liquid cooling, overhead camshafts, and four valves per cylinder also reflected the requirements of a modern motorcycle intended for both pavement and off-road travel.

Harley-Davidson later used a related Revolution Max engine in the Sportster S and Nightster. Those models share the engine family, but the Pan America was the first production motorcycle to introduce it.
