Which Harley-Davidson model was introduced as the first Dyna motorcycle in 1991?

The story behind the answer

The FXDB Sturgis was introduced in 1991 as the first Harley-Davidson Dyna motorcycle.

The Dyna platform combined a rubber-mounted engine with a conventional swingarm suspension and a frame designed to provide more rigidity than earlier designs. The FXDB Sturgis was named after the South Dakota town associated with one of the world’s best-known motorcycle rallies.

The Sturgis model helped establish the Dyna family’s identity as a performance-oriented custom range. Its styling included a distinctive blacked-out appearance and belt final drive, features that helped separate it from other Harley-Davidson lines.

Later Dyna models included the Low Rider, Wide Glide, Super Glide, and Street Bob. The Dyna family was discontinued as a separate platform after the 2017 model year, when many of its roles were absorbed by the Softail range.
