Which Harley-Davidson engine has four valves per cylinder in its Milwaukee-Eight design?
Answer
Milwaukee-Eight
Answer
Milwaukee-Eight
The Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight engine has four valves per cylinder in its production design.
Harley-Davidson introduced the Milwaukee-Eight engine family for the 2017 model year. Its name refers to the eight total valves in the two-cylinder V-twin: four valves in each cylinder. The design improved breathing compared with earlier two-valve big-twin engines.
The engine also incorporated a single camshaft, a feature that distinguished it from the preceding Twin Cam family. Harley-Davidson offered several Milwaukee-Eight displacements and versions for touring, Softail and related motorcycles.
The number in the name is sometimes mistakenly taken to describe the engine’s displacement or cylinder count. It instead refers to the engine’s total number of valves.
