Which Harley-Davidson engine family debuted in 2016 with the Milwaukee-Eight 107?
Answer
Milwaukee-Eight
Answer
Milwaukee-Eight
The Milwaukee-Eight engine family debuted in 2016 with the Milwaukee-Eight 107.
Harley-Davidson developed the Milwaukee-Eight as the successor to the Twin Cam engine family. The first versions were offered in 107-cubic-inch, 114-cubic-inch, and, for some applications, 117-cubic-inch sizes. The name combines the company’s Milwaukee identity with the engine’s eight-valve cylinder-head design.
Each cylinder uses four valves, giving the V-twin eight valves in total. The engine also introduced updated cooling, vibration control, and combustion technology while preserving the 45-degree V-twin layout associated with many Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
The Milwaukee-Eight should not be confused with the Revolution Max family. Revolution Max is a newer, liquid-cooled engine used in models including the Pan America. The earlier Twin Cam, meanwhile, had already powered Harley-Davidson motorcycles since 1999.
