Slash appears as a boss in Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The Guns N' Roses guitarist is the second major boss encountered in the game's solo Career mode.
Players face Slash in a guitar battle after progressing through the career's venues. His battle uses an original composition written and recorded for the game by Slash, rather than simply placing him in a standard song performance. Defeating him unlocks Slash as a playable character and makes him available for purchase in the in-game store.
Guitar Hero III includes two other boss battles: Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and the fictional Lou the Devil. Tom Morello appears before Slash, while Lou serves as the final opponent. Eddie Van Halen, Dave Mustaine, and Tom Morello are plausible mix-ups because they are prominent guitarists associated with rhythm-game culture, but only Slash among these choices is both from Guns N' Roses and a Guitar Hero III boss.
