The group that released the 1995 album The Show, the After Party, the Hotel was Jodeci.
The album is Jodeci’s third studio release and arrived on July 18, 1995, through Uptown Records, distributed by MCA. The group—K-Ci, JoJo, DeVante Swing, and Mr. Dalvin—combined gospel-rooted harmonies, hip-hop production, and emotionally intense R&B vocals. DeVante Swing and Mr. Dalvin handled much of the production.
The title is deliberately divided into three settings, reflecting the album’s theatrical, nightlife-oriented concept. It followed Diary of a Mad Band, Jodeci’s 1993 album, and continued the group’s influential blend of streetwise sensuality and polished vocal arranging. The record reached number two on the Billboard 200 and topped the U.S. R&B albums chart.
A common mix-up is confusing Jodeci with other prominent 1990s vocal groups such as Boyz II Men, Dru Hill, or Shai. Those groups were contemporaries, but none released this album. By September 1995, The Show, the After Party, the Hotel had earned platinum certification.
