Which group featured Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams as its best-known trio?

The story behind the answer

Destiny’s Child featured Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams as its best-known trio.

The group began in Houston in the 1990s under earlier names before signing with Columbia Records. Its lineup changed several times, but the final and most widely recognized lineup consisted of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Destiny’s Child became one of the best-selling female groups in music history.

The trio recorded successful albums including Survivor, 8 Days of Christmas, and Destiny Fulfilled. Their major singles included “Say My Name,” “Survivor,” “Bootylicious,” and “Lose My Breath.” The group announced a hiatus in 2005 and formally disbanded after a farewell period, allowing its members to pursue solo projects.

Beyoncé’s later solo career grew directly out of this group history, but Destiny’s Child was not a solo alias. The group is also sometimes confused with earlier temporary lineups, including versions that included LaTavia Roberson and LeToya Luckett.
