Prometheus is the Greek Titan linked to Pandora’s creation because he gave fire to humanity. Zeus’s punishment for that act is the background to the Pandora story in Hesiod.
Prometheus is portrayed as a benefactor of humans in several ancient traditions. He is associated with stealing fire from the gods and, in some accounts, with shaping or aiding humanity. Zeus responds by ordering the creation of Pandora as a beautiful but dangerous gift.
Prometheus and Pandora are therefore connected even though they play opposite roles in the narrative. Prometheus brings a useful divine resource to humans, while Pandora’s container becomes the source of suffering. Their stories together explain both human advancement and human vulnerability.
