Zeus is the Greek god Kratos defeats in God of War III.
The game concludes the main Greek-era storyline and centers on Kratos's final revenge against Zeus, his father. Their conflict began in God of War II, when Zeus betrayed Kratos and stripped him of his powers. Kratos then escapes the Underworld and allies with the Titans to attack Mount Olympus.
God of War III opens during the assault on Olympus. Kratos battles gods and other mythological beings while pursuing Zeus, whose rule has destabilized the world. The game presents Zeus as the leader of the Olympian gods and as the source of Kratos's divine parentage.
Ares is a frequent wrong answer because he is the principal enemy of the original 2005 God of War. Hades and Poseidon are also major Olympian figures encountered by Kratos, but neither is the final opponent in God of War III. The game was released for PlayStation 3 in 2010 and later remastered for PlayStation 4.
