Answer
Royal Birkdale Golf Club
Answer
Royal Birkdale Golf Club
Royal Birkdale Golf Club is hosting the 2026 Open Championship. The championship, officially the 154th Open, is scheduled for July 16–19, 2026, at the famous links in Southport, England.
Royal Birkdale is one of the Open rota’s most respected venues. The course is known for its sandy terrain, coastal winds, deep bunkers and demanding fairways, conditions that can make club selection and trajectory control especially important. It last hosted the championship in 2017, when Jordan Spieth won after a dramatic final-round battle.
The course has hosted the Open ten times before the 2026 edition, beginning in 1954. Its history includes victories by major champions such as Arnold Palmer, Mark O’Meara, Tom Watson and Spieth.
Muirfield, Royal Troon and Royal Liverpool are also Open Championship venues, which makes them plausible quiz choices. However, they are not the site selected for 2026. The Open’s venue rotates among leading links courses in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
