Which god is the scribe of the gods and god of wisdom?

The story behind the answer

The god who serves as the scribe of the gods and the god of wisdom is Thoth.

Thoth was an ancient Egyptian deity of wisdom, writing, knowledge, magic, measurement, judgment, and the moon. Artists usually depicted him as a man with the head of an ibis or, in some representations, as a baboon. His association with writing made him the divine patron of scribes, who regarded written knowledge as one of his gifts.

In mythology, Thoth acted as a counselor, record keeper, and mediator among the gods. He was credited with inventing hieroglyphs and with recording or announcing decisions during disputes. In the judgment of the dead, he helped document the weighing of a person’s heart against the feather of Ma’at, the principle of truth and cosmic order.

Thoth’s chief cult center was Hermopolis, called Khmun in Egyptian tradition. The Greeks identified him with Hermes because both gods were associated with language and learning; this later contributed to the figure Hermes Trismegistus. Thoth is distinct from Ra, the solar deity, although he often served as Ra’s counselor and companion.
