Which goaltender has the most career wins in NHL history?

The story behind the answer

Which goaltender has the most career wins in NHL history? The answer is Martin Brodeur.

Brodeur finished his NHL career with 691 regular-season wins, the league record for a goaltender. He earned nearly all of them with the New Jersey Devils, where his disciplined positioning, puck-handling ability, and durability made him the foundation of the team’s defense.

He played 22 NHL seasons, appeared in 1,266 games, recorded 125 shutouts, and won three Stanley Cups with New Jersey. Brodeur also captured the Vezina Trophy four times as the NHL’s top goaltender and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2018.

The record concerns regular-season wins, not playoff victories or a general judgment of the greatest goalie. Marc-André Fleury, Patrick Roy, and Roberto Luongo are among the other leading career winners, but none surpassed Brodeur’s total.
